Very reluctant sale of our Yamaha Vienna upright piano in walnut. Sale due to move abroad.
Relisting as another buyer can no longer collect.
We bought this piano just a year and a half ago. While I’m still an an amateur, my husband is a trained classical pianist and took months waiting to find the right piano. We eventually found this one from a private home whose owner had bought it new and hardly ever played it. Because of this the piano is mechanically almost new and this was confirmed very recently when we had a fresh tuning done ready for the sale. We asked the tuner to make any corrections necessary to the action, etc – but none were necessary at all and he described the piano as one of the best examples he had come across, “almost like it just rolled off the factory floor”. Description below is his:
The Vienna series were a limited edition handbuilt in England using German soundboards for a more “European” sound and carried a very hefty price tag. All regulation and preparation was done by hand by skilled craftsmen and this is reflected in the superior sound you will hear from this piano. You are welcome to come to try this instrument before you bid because I am confident that the first person that does so will buy.
The action is even and measured throughout the keyboard, and the treble is clear and bell-like. The midrange has been carefully voiced to suit all styles of music (my husband plays classical music mostly but also some jazz). The bass is surprisingly powerful for a mid-sized upright, reminiscent of pianos such as Schimmel and C. Bechstein. But most importantly all registers work together to create a unified sound.
As you can see in the photos, one side of the piano’s finish has faded somewhat from the bright sunlight it received in the original owner’s house. There are also two indistinct marks on top of the piano from the original owner placing tea light holders (tisk!) on the piano; there is a small chip on the left hand side near the fallboard, as pictured, and a small chip on the right hand leg. The casework is therefore not perfect but does not detract from the beauty of the walnut finish.
Original Yamaha stool is included.
I have priced this piano based on the figure recommended by my (very respected) piano tuner. It is priced honestly and reflects its outstanding condition.
Needless to say this item is collection only and I would recommend only using fully-insured specialist piano movers, as we did.
Cash on collection is preferred.
Viewings welcome – Bearwood, Birmingham
Many thanks and do ask if you have any questions.
